Complete guide to controlling your LED strips with the LotusLantern mobile app — installation, Bluetooth pairing, color, music sync, scheduling, and more.

LotusLantern is a mobile app for controlling LED strips from both iPhone and Android phones. It replaces traditional infrared, 433MHz, 2.4GHz and other wired remotes with a convenient, powerful and extensible smartphone-based experience.

With LotusLantern you can:

Adjust the color, brightness and color temperature of your LED strips
Trigger a wide range of dynamic flash and lighting modes
Make the lights pulse and shift along with the rhythm of your music
Set up and control multiple LED strips over Bluetooth from a single app

The interface is designed to be simple, intuitive and easy to learn.

1.3 Performance

LotusLantern is lightweight and broadly compatible. Real-world testing across hundreds of phones shows compatibility above 95% of devices on the market. The app uses minimal system resources, so it has very low requirements on phone hardware. Control latency is low and color transitions feel smooth and natural.

2. System Requirements

The app requires Android 4.3 or later, or iOS 8.0 or later. There are no additional hardware requirements.

Note: The Android and iOS versions are installed and used in the same way. The screenshots in this manual use the Android version.

3.1 Downloading the App

Scan the QR code

Both iOS and Android users can download the LotusLantern app by scanning the official QR code. Open your browser or any tool with a built-in QR code scanner, then scan the LotusLantern QR code below:

3.2 Using the App

(1) Launch the app

Tap the LotusLantern icon on your home screen to open the app.

(2) Allow Bluetooth access

When you open the app for the first time, you may see a prompt: "An app wants to turn Bluetooth on for this device." Tap Allow.

(3) Color and brightness screen

This is the main control screen. From here you can:

Open the device list to see and manage connected strips
Switch the color wheel style
Open the settings view
Toggle the lamp on or off with the power button
View the current RGB value
Drag on the color wheel to adjust the color
Tap a square swatch to apply a preset color
Open the manual RGB adjustment view
Switch to other screens (Adjust, Style, Music, Online, Mic) from the bottom tab bar

(4) Device list

Tap the menu icon to open the device list. The app automatically searches for and connects to Bluetooth devices in range. Each item shows the lamp name and its current connection status.

(5) Manual RGB adjustment

Open this view to set the red, green and blue channels individually using sliders for precise color control. Tap OK to apply or Cancel to discard.

(6) Mode screen

Scroll the list to pick a preset lighting mode (Static Red, Static Blue, White Strobe Flash, Cyan Strobe Flash, Purple Strobe Flash, and many more)
Adjust the speed of the animation
Adjust the brightness of the strip

(7) Music rhythm — local music

Play music from your phone library and let the lights move with it:

Previous / Pause / Play / Next controls
Loop mode toggle
Music list — pick a track from your library

(8) Online music

Switch to the Online tab to browse and play music from supported online sources. The light effects respond to the audio just like local playback.

(9) Microphone rhythm

Drive the lights from ambient sound captured by a microphone:

Phone microphone — react to sound picked up by your phone
External microphone — react to a microphone built into the product itself
Switch freely between phone mic and external mic
Choose one of 4 rhythm styles
Adjust the sensitivity of the microphone to match how loud the room is

(10) Schedule

Set automatic on/off timers for your lights:

Schedule On — enable or disable the auto turn-on function
Set the time for the lights to turn on
Choose a repeat schedule (leave all days unselected for a one-off turn-on)
Schedule Off — enable or disable the auto turn-off function
Set the time for the lights to turn off
Choose a repeat schedule (leave all days unselected for a one-off turn-off)

(11) Modify pin sequence

If your wiring does not match the default RGB order, you can remap the channels:

Tap a channel letter (R / G / B) to change which physical color that line drives
Tap Save to store the new assignment
